My Top 3 Podcasts
7:14 AMWhat did I do before podcasts? Seriously. Sometimes I'm not in the mood to listen to music but I need to have something playing in the background while I drive to work or school. Nothing gets me through commuter hour or a long haul drive like a good podcast. Podcasts aren't just for my car. I love listening to them while I'm doing my homework or even going out for a run. Today I'm so excited to share these with you and if you all have any recommendations let me know in the comments!
Where do I even begin? This podcast is my all time favorite. I'm a huge fan of the blog, The Skinny Confidential, created by Lauryn Evarts. This podcast is hosted by Lauryn and her husband Michael. They share so much valuable content on their show about the business of blogging which is super helpful to bloggers just starting out like me. They each usually share a tip of the week which can be anything from beauty to finance. Lauryn and Michael are also joined by awesome guests including Gary Vaynerchuk, Jackie Schimmel, and even some of their family and friends ( shout out to Taylor the BNC). Their content is great and so is their show dynamic. Lauryn and Michael have an awesome sense of humor. After listening to an episode of TSC Him & Her I literally feel so motivated and energized and ready to get to work! TSC Him & Her episodes come out every Tuesday. You can listen in on Podcast One, Itunes, or on The Skinny Confidential.
I discovered Annabelle DiSisto's podcast Adderall and Compliments thanks to TSC Him & Her and I'm so happy I did. Annabelle used to write for Joan Rivers for Fashion Police, which was one of my favorite shows. Annabelle is HILARIOUS. I literally LOL IRL. Adderall and Compliments talk about a wide variety of topics. Usually, Annabelle and friend Meghan Grainger will discuss The Bachelor and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Their descriptions and commentary about this season of the Bachelor with Nick Viall were hysterical and so accurate. Annabelle also discusses some really out there cool topics that I never thought I would be so into. She's talked about crystal healing, ghost encounters, politics, and of course her cats. Annabelle's investors (aka her parents) also join her as co-hosts on the show from time to time. She and her mom, Nancy, are a riot together. Adderall and Compliments can range from an hour show to a three-hour extravaganza. Literally perfect for long car rides or pumping out a paper on museums. This podcast totally helps me relax and brightens my mood. New episodes come out throughout the week so be sure to subscribe on iTunes to catch the latest!
Now for something completely different! The Museum of Lost Object podcast was created by BBC Radio 4 and discussed ten sites and artifacts that have been destroyed during the conflicts in Syria and Iraq. This limited series was excellent. I really wish they would revamp it or create a second series that expands on some of these places or brings attention to other places where cultural heritage is in crisis. My personal favorite episode was the one on Palmyra, of course. In this particularly moving episode, the daughter of slain archaeologist Khaled Al-Assad, Zenobia, recounted her father's passion for the history of the ancient site and the last words she shared with her father before the town of Palmyra was overtaken by ISIS. I've been trying to find a comparable podcast to this one to fuel my passion for cultural heritage protection so any suggestions would be more than welcome. Until then you can catch me relistening to this incredible series. Subscribe on iTunes.
