Why I Love my Yellow Tinted Glasses
11:26 AMI live my life in front of a computer or phone screen. Like many folks my age, I sit at my desk in front of my laptop cranking out papers, shooting off emails at work, or just watching YouTube videos in my free time. Although I try to turn off all my electronics at the end of the day, sometimes I can't help but scroll through Twitter or Facebook in the evenings.
Constantly staring at electronic screens has been killing my eyes. After a long day of trying to write a paper or reading course material I feel so wiped out. I know I'm not the only one. Nine out of ten Americans feel the effects of the blue light from their electronic screens and suffer from eye fatigue according to a study done by the Vision Council. Blue light also can make it harder for the body to produce melanin at night making it harder to fall asleep. Basically, it messes with your internal clock so that when you should be sleeping and getting some well-deserved rest, your body thinks it should be awake because of the brightness of the blue light.
I have 20/20 vision and don't need prescription glasses but I was so intrigued by the concept of yellow tinted glasses. These glasses filter out the blue light and protects my eyes from UV as well. They're also pretty cute in my opinion. My pair is the Eyekepper Vintage Computer Glasses. I love the tortoise shell frames and the shape of the glasses. I purchased this pair from Amazon and was able to get them without any prescription in them. The price for the Eyekepper glasses was really reasonable. It only cost me about $12 for the glasses plus shipping costs. The glasses came with a small case and a microfiber cloth to keep them safe and smudge-free.
There are so many different shapes and styles to these glasses that the possibilities are endless. Just type in yellow tinted computer glasses into Amazon and so many different brands, with a lot of different styles, there's sure to be one that fits you. If you do need a prescription lens for your glasses, a lot of these brands are able to add that on to the lens.
Overall, I found these really help with my eye sensitivity. I try to wear them anytime I'm at work or doing homework. They're very comfortable and fit well on my face. I still am trying to break my bad habit of scrolling through social media right before bed but old habits are hard to break. I would definitely recommend picking up a pair of these. Just search on Amazon "yellow tinted glasses" or "computer glasses." There are so many different shapes and styles to these glasses that the possibilities are endless.
